Remembering Dave Bowman

We recently lost a friend of so many in our community and a loyal supporter of The Teddy Bear Party and we want to take a moment to say  “Thank you to Dave Bowman for his kindness and long time support and wish his many friends and especially his family members our heartfelt condolences”.

David Charles Bowman, Dallas, Texas

Born on September 11, 1974 in Beeville, Texas, David grew up in the Austin, Texas area, graduating Pflugerville High School in 1993. In high school he excelled in debate and was a leader on his traveling champion debate team. His formidable debate skills would serve him well in the courtroom when he later became an attorney following receipt of his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s Law School, after earning his Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Texas and a brief career in advertising. David settled in Dallas and worked as an attorney for a variety of law firms, but he shined most in his role as a personal injury trial attorney. Standing at 6’6” and weighing 290 pounds, David was an imposing force in the courtroom and he relished his interactions with witnesses, banter with judges and performances for jurors. All who met David remembered his towering presence and larger than life persona, but those closest to him also knew him for his brilliant mind, insatiable appetite for learning history and traveling the world and dedication to the sport of amateur bodybuilding.

From a young age, David was an avid reader, especially interested in ancient World history and WWI&II. David also enjoyed tabletop miniature battle gaming, where his strategic skills dominated and he eventually put on his own Warhammer tournaments that drew players nationwide. While in law school, David discovered his passion for bodybuilding. His dedication earned him a 1st place trophy at the NPC Dallas Europa competition in 2017.  David was a lovingly dedicated son to his mother, Gail, whom he consistently referred to as his best friend. Year after year, David and his former partner, Toby, would look forward to their annual trips together with their mothers, from Hawaii to the California Wine Country, Colorado Rocky Mountains, New York Hamptons, Italy’s Amalfi Coast, and cruises along the Nile River in Egypt and Yangtze River in China. David also loved traveling the world with his friends whether it was a road trip to Austin or a two week vacation throughout Europe.

David attended Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Dallas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation be made in David’s name to TeddyBearParty.org.  A memorial service will be held at a later date due to public gathering restrictions currently in place in Texas
